SOCIAL IMPACT
Challenges faced
The overwhelming volume of resumes in today's fiercely competitive job market makes candidate screening a daunting and often inefficient process, significantly increasing the risk of overlooking highly qualified individuals. In this challenging landscape, efficiently and accurately identifying top talent is a major hurdle, especially when recruiters and hiring managers are faced with limited time, resources, and the constant pressure to fill open positions quickly. This deluge of applications makes it incredibly difficult to give each resume the careful and thorough consideration it deserves, potentially leading to unconscious biases and the real possibility of missing hidden gems.
Solution
To directly address the significant problem of overwhelming resume volumes and the very real risk of overlooking highly qualified candidates, I dedicated my efforts to developing Interview.AI, a cutting-edge platform designed to empower recruiters and hiring managers by streamlining and automating the often-tedious process of preliminary interviews. Interview.AI leverages the power of sophisticated AI-driven analysis to efficiently and objectively identify top talent, ensuring that promising candidates don't get lost in the shuffle and that recruiters can focus their time and energy on engaging with the most promising individuals.
Ideation & Research
When I began the ideation process for Interview.AI, my initial step was always to research existing software solutions addressing the same or similar challenges. I believe this approach offers valuable insights into how a product can be improved by identifying and resolving the issues current platforms fail to address.
During my research, I discovered numerous products aimed at solving this particular issue, yet most were B2B-oriented. This focus meant that individuals wanting to participate in mock AI interviews were left without suitable options, as these products did not cater to individual candidates. Furthermore, I noticed a significant gap: no platform facilitated direct communication between candidates and companies during the AI interview and screening process.

My design process
The magic begins here. Like all product designers, following my initial research, I started wire framing the layout, determining the look and feel of the product, identifying which features to highlight, and deciding which to exclude.
I do have one confession to make here, during the creation of the product the overall flow & features keeps on changing from ideation to wireframe to visual design (**just like Chinese whisper, but in a positive way ). Once I start, I often realise that a feature I initially thought essential might not seamlessly integrate with others I've chosen to include. Thus, the design that I create continuously adapts with each step and every rectangle I draw. I hope this makes sense to you.
Given the feature-rich nature of this project, I segmented the entire product into three main sections: Onboarding, the Home Section, and the Interview Section. In the Interview Section, candidates can undergo AI interviews featuring a variety of question formats, including text, audio, and video.
